NW Works in Profile: Kirsta Weber
Kirsta Weber
Meet Kirsta! Kirsta joined the NW Works Team in February 2026 as the Human Resources Director, bringing with her a passion for people-centered leadership and connection. Originally from Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and a Winchester resident since 1988, Kirsta has strong ties to the Shenandoah Valley community she serves. In her role, Kirsta emphasizes the “human” in Human Resources and focuses on how support and strong relationships can impact and give back to the organization.
For Kirsta, the opportunities to give back were endless, especially as the Northern Shenandoah Valley has so many nonprofits. After working out where her time, talents, and treasure could best be shared, Kirsta landed at NW Works. Giving back to the community specifically resonates with Kirsta, and after being familiar with NW Works and our mission from her presence in the community and our signature Farm to Table event, Kirsta felt especially drawn to NW Works. This alignment ultimately led her to join the team as Human Resources Director.
As an HR Professional, Kirsta has a large role in laying the foundation of employee culture along with NW Works’ Leadership Team and her fellow human resource professionals. As a rule of thumb, Kirsta believes in looking at what employees need in terms of support from a variety of lenses, especially when it comes to employee engagement and retention. By taking care of our own employees, we in turn provide better support for those we serve.
Kirsta’s role directly impacts our mission and members of our mission services staff who work with those we serve. How an organization’s employees are treated can greatly impact the services they provide, along with their ability to further their mission; and Kirsta’s role ensures our services and mission remain steadfast through the support of our staff.
In Kirsta’s brief time at NW Works, she has found connecting with our team to be the most rewarding part of her job. Spending time with others, learning their roles, and getting a further understanding of how our organization operates has been beneficial to Kirsta from an HR standpoint, but also as she integrates with the team to continue building relationships. Kirsta is glad to be listening, learning, and taking everything in as she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work with our team as she enters her third month at NW Works!
In Kirsta’s spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, volunteering, thrifting and trying new restaurants! As a foodie, Kirsta is always on the hunt for the next best restaurant in or around our community. She is also is a big fan of nonfiction and biographies, and recommends her current read: Leaders Eat Last, written by Simon Sinek. Kirsta loves to learn about other people and connect with them along with their culture; so reading and travel satisfies her natural curiosity on those fronts. Kirsta is an active volunteer at Opequon Presbyterian Church, where she serves as an elder and participates on the Christian Education Committee. In addition, she serves on the board of CCAP in Winchester. If you, like Kirsta, are interested in joining a mission-driven organization, visit the “Join Our Team” page.
