NDEAM Spotlight: Shannon

Happy National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! 🌟

This spotlight shines on Shannon, a dedicated employee at Martin’s who has grown into both a valued team member and an emerging leader.

When Shannon found she sometimes needed breaks to stay focused, she worked with her job coach, Wendy, to design a creative color-coded card system. Each card represented a different message, allowing Shannon to advocate for her needs confidently and independently.

Shannon’s color coded system worked so well that her supervisor adopted it for the entire team, which helped create a more inclusive workplace for everyone.

Just two months later, Shannon was promoted to a leadership role and named Employee of the Month! As Maggy, a Senior Facilitator at Martin’s, shared: “Since she has received her promotion she has gone above and beyond at her job and for the customers.”

Shannon’s story shows the power of self-advocacy, creativity, and community support in building confidence and career growth. Congratulations, Shannon—we’re so proud of all you’ve accomplished!
