Mission Moment: “This Is Where I’m Meant To Be”
Robby, a new team member at NW Works, shared with staff how glad he is to be here and remarked that he knows this is exactly where he’s meant to be. Moments like this remind our staff, community members, and supporters of the bigger picture behind the NW Works mission—to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with disabilities. For some individuals, being included in their community, having others to socialize with, and learning skills they might not have had exposure to before coming to NW Works is of utmost importance to them, and exactly what they were looking for in programming. Moments like this reaffirm the purpose behind every service we provide.
Other team members have shared similar experiences. One such team member, Tashique, shared some of her background before coming to NW Works. Prior to receiving services from NW Works, Tashique spent most of her time at home helping her mother with household chores but didn’t have many opportunities for community involvement or job exploration. Thanks to NW Works and our dedicated staff, Tashique is now working part time through a partnership with Axalta, and she has gained friendships and a full community of supporters.
With the support of our community, NW Works is proud to continue providing opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and maximize independence. By providing these opportunities, we help individuals like Robby and Tashique discover meaningful paths that might not have been accessible to them without NW Works.
