From Gift Bows to Grocery Aisles: 55 Years of Impact

Back in 1970, and for many years after, NW Works, formerly Northwestern Workshop, took on projects ranging from embossing to gift bow assembly. Over the years, NW Works became known for many of these projects, and now we look back on them with fondness for the opportunities they provided team members with for skill development and work. As the holiday season is upon us, we're taking a trip down memory lane to when NW Works made bows and the pride team members took in completing each bow for community members to use on holiday gifts. Now, 55 years later, team members can be found stocking shelves at Martin's with holiday meal fixings, scanning and bagging your white elephant Christmas party gifts at Walmart, and ensuring the aisles in Target stay clean and ready for a safe, stress-free holiday shopping season!

We're grateful to continue our 55-year legacy of impact through:

  • Supporting over 250 individuals across:

    • Our on-campus Group Day Support Program

    • Job coaching services in the community

    • Our Business Services and AbilityOne teams

  • Partnering with 55 area businesses who employ and support the individuals we serve

  • Empowering every individual we serve to continue developing skills, building confidence, and maximizing their independence through experiences at NW Works or in the community.
