NW Works in Profile: Todd Devine
Todd Devine
Meet Todd! Growing up, Todd’s family moved around a lot, but eventually he settled in Minneapolis. Todd attended the University of Minneapolis, where he met his wife, Dawn. They got married a few years into college and have been married for 37 years. Todd and Dawn are both nonprofit people and have worked with non-profits for over 20 years. As a family, Todd and Dawn label themselves as non-profit people as they’ve also brought their children into the fold.
Todd served on NW Works’ board for just under three years and now serves the organization as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Todd is responsible for looking at NW Works’ finances and how they support the empowerment of adults with disabilities. As Todd shared, he focuses on the mission when making financial decisions, and reports these back to other decision-makers at NW Works. Todd's deep connection to people with disabilities starts with his son Jonah who is a client of NW Works also. Todd’s unique perspective due to the environment of his work and home life ensures that his job always relates back to the NW Works mission, and his commitment to not only his family’s well-being, but also the individuals served by NW Works remains steadfast.
For Todd, the most rewarding part of his job is the people he works with daily. As a former remote worker, Todd has learned he really missed the relationships of coworkers outside of a screen. Todd’s advice for the workplace stems from his experience as a remote worker. He encourages employees to get to know everyone in all areas and departments of their company. While it’s great to know your immediate coworkers, you should also expand yourself to other areas, especially for those who are new.
In Todd’s free time, his family is his biggest hobby and who he spends the most time with. "We believe in living life to the fullest, you never know how much time we get on this planet. Find things you love and work that is meaningful." The Devine family likes to travel and have been to 49 states and dozens of countries, Todd and Jonah want to get to every MLB baseball stadium some day.
If you, like Todd, are committed to serving adults with disabilities, we want to hear from you! Volunteer and employment opportunities can be found on the NW Works website through the Volunteer and Join our Team pages.
