From North Cameron Street to Today: A Legacy of Growth

We hope you're ready for a blast from the past as we look at the second home of NW Works on this Throwback Thursday! Our second location was located at 329 N. Cameron Street which is currently home to many of our friends who are part of Our Health VA.

Once supporting 78 clients, the North Cameron location built the foundation for the NW Works of today through welcoming new individuals and assessing skills, strengths, and areas to build on— similar to what we still do today.

Since 1970, NW Works, formerly Northwestern Workshop, has proudly provided life changing services to adults with disabilities in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

In 2025, we're proud to support 255 individuals through:

  • On-campus Group Day Support Program

  • Job coaching services in the community

  • Business Services and AbilityOne teams

  • We also partner with 55 local businesses, helping the people we serve build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections in our community.

As we prepare to celebrate our 55th anniversary, we're reminded of the progress our organization has made. We've expanded from serving 5 clients, to actively serving 255 individuals who feel empowered, are involved in our community, and are working to maximize their independence.
