WINCHESTER — If you’ve never experienced pure joy, then you’ve never been to a performance of the NW Works Chimers.

Members of the Chimers are clients of NW Works, a Winchester nonprofit that provides job training and placement services for adults with special needs. The number of performers in the group ebbs and flows, but at the moment, there are a dozen.

The performers are paired with music therapy students from Shenandoah University (SU) who provide musical accompaniment, help the Chimers stay in rhythm and — pardon the pun — chime in when it’s their turn to play.

On Wednesday, the chimers met in SU’s Ruebush Hall for their final rehearsal before showcasing their talents Saturday in “A Night at the Theatre,” a concert where members of the public will be treated to performances of 10 songs made famous in movies and on stage. READ MORE
