Meet Troy Hollon, our Compliance Coordinator! Community and service pulled Troy to NW Works, where he originally applied to be a vocational rehabilitation specialist or a therapeutic direct support professional due to his background in vocational rehabilitation and related services. Troy’s interest in NW Works stems from his desire to serve his community and create a lasting impact on individuals, something that Troy is no stranger to. Serving as a Navy Submarine Electronics Technician from 1986-2006, then a personal trainer and gym manager, along with several years in support professional roles, Troy is well versed at serving others and working toward their growth.  “I have always enjoyed working in the field helping individuals realize and meet their goals as well as push themselves beyond what others think they are capable of”, remarked Troy.

Since Troy stepped on in December his focus has been on streamlining training, reworking the Medication Administration Records and, soon to come, the file room. By adjusting these processes, our staff are given the opportunity to focus more directly on the individuals we serve while still meeting training needs in a time-efficient way. Troy’s work on these items helps us to fulfill our mission as a team and continue directing our time and energy toward the people we serve. When asked about the motivations behind his professional goals, Troy stated, “Whatever will make their jobs easier I want to try and do. If they’re happy the clients are happy.”

It is clear that Troy enjoys his role at NW Works. Troy attempts to get around each morning to say hello to everyone, join a class to exercise or learn a little sign language. One of Troy’s favorite aspects of NW Works is the Career Café and seeing how the staff and individuals all work together. He is also looking forward to volunteering to assist with gardening.

When Troy isn’t in his office, you can find him holding down Table Number 5 in the Career Café while enjoying a double espresso. Outside of NW Works, Troy enjoys taking pictures of any flora and fauna he can find, traveling, and going rockhounding.
